3 of us are delivering a 47’ Gulf Star motor sailor from Stockton to Seattle. June 6, against prudence, saw us depart SAn Francisco and arrive Bodega Bay. That leg saw 9-20’ seas and 25-37kt breeze. We should have waited. Waited 10days in Bodega Bay for a window, then went 32 hrs to Brookings OR. Cape Mendocino at night was another ill-prudent venture. Depart Brookings this a.m. for Coos Bay - enroute now. Taking advantage of weather window.

6-21 left Coos Bay in calm at 5 am and arrived Newport Oregon 4 pm. Opening day for halibut and about 23 million boats in line for fuel! Cool. NOAA is saying the high will continue for the weekend so we will beat feet to round the corner Sunday night. That’s the plan now . The Gulf Star 47 has pretty much new most things, including a new cat 130 hp diesel which pushes us nicely between 7 and 8 kts. We spent most of the day working on getting auto pilot glitches out of the system! Seems good finally.

6-22 departed Newport and arrived Tillamook (spelling!). Tomorrow will be last day -if small craft advisory is up we leave for home and I’m good to go and fly home the next day.. if good to sail we do it all overnight the way and fly home after that.

Key- have good equipment and make sure all works -this boat everything electronic flaked out and we spent hrs getting the electronic gremlins out. All the hatches leaked badly in blows. Auto pilot was fouled up very badly until We spent 3 hrs in it yesterday, including talking to factory reps on the phone while underway! Data on owners chart plotter was 8 yrs old. I used navonics current from last week in my iPad which was accurate. Lots of arguments in location of critical chart features even after repeatedly showing owner his chart was inaccurate - harbor entrances, lights, buoeys , etc. :( How it goes Be safe and be sure as best you can.

Hello Doug

Last leg now is kind of like our first day out of sf to bodega. Quite spirited but not the high winds we had then. Wild though. 2 hrs more to West Port WA,

Btw - check out the single handed transpac start with live tracking. We are tracing Mike and Carliane! Sweet. We are bouncing around watching the race :D See you soon. Still on for the winch work
