New to Sailing

Post by bearb4tree »

Hi,

I bought the F25 for sail in the SF Bay #216.

I thought it would be a good boat to learn on. Doug has been very generous and helpful.

I was looking to connect with other Freedom owners in the bay area.

While I have no sailing skills, I am a competent machinist and woodworker, though not professional.

I know zip about fiberglass gelcoat etc.

Next steps are lessons and knowledgeable friends, and then some family sailing after that.

Thanks!

Matt

Hello,
I too am new to sailing. I'm in SC. I advise you join your local POWER SQUADRON, or SAIL CLUB second.
There are like minded people there, and many want to help you get started. The PS offers courses, with just the cost of the book...I am taking Boat electricity now...not doing too well on it...
You can follow how I am progressing on SEAKNOTS, put in your browser , I use the name Lola.
Also you can go to Utube and type in Lola Sails...one of my teachers made a video of me ...Remember I know very little, but taking little steps.
Good luck and have fun, I am.
