Freedom Yachts

Post by mike cunningham »

I was just wondering what Freedom Yachts might have done with the molds for the various freedom models. Do they destroy them? Are the left to rot? They certainly are not something you would store in your attic. Whatever happens to these things?

All sailboat molds were run over with a bulldozer or cut up with a chainsaw. Disappointing for me at the time as I wanted to add a swim platform to my 36.

What about the British molds? Do they still exist?

What a shame. I guess they were pretty big and would have been expensive to store. I wonder if they attempted to sell them before they destroyed them?

I had heard that Tartan Yachts (under whatever name they are currently operating) obtained the rights to the brand/designs. I've heard that production records were also destroyed in the transition/business failure. Very sad.
