40/40 Engine Sizing & Polars

Post by moskma »

Two questions for the group; 1) is there a point of view or any recommendations about whether the engines installed are adequate in size/performance eg. assuming a correctly sized prop, what cruising boat speed is reasonable to expect without maxing out rpms and 2) can anyone direct me to polars for the 40/40?

thanks

Mark

I typically motor at around 6.8 kts in flat conditions at 2800 RPM, which gives the motor a lot of headroom should I need it. I burn around 1.1 GPH at that speed. This is with a 45 HP Yanmar 3JH2-TBE.

Can't help you with the polars.
