Masthead LED for Freedom 25 non-winged

Post by LazyJack »

I want to switch out my masthead light for an LED and would like to send someone up the mast only once if possible. Does anyone have the original specs so I can buy the appropriate bulb, adaptor and or whole unit.

Thanks,
Scott

If your setup is same as mine, I have one of the Perko combination masthead and anchor lights (see attachment). I was able to replace the bulbs with 2x Dr. LED "Festoon Star." However, it was not installed with the DPDT switch called out in the attachment, so in fact I had no anchor light capability. When I last had the mast out, I reran a 3-conductor bundle and used a diode between 2 "ordinary" switch-breakers in the panel, as the other attachment shows. (I had also replaced the J24 fuse panel with a Blue Seas breaker panel, but you need not do this). The 8A breakers are way oversized for this, but they are there to protect the wire, not the bulbs.
