Shower sump on a Freedom 28 Cat Ketch 1979 vintage

Post by mmueller »

How does the shower sump on a Freedom 28 operate? Currently it appears that the shower/head floor drain is open directly to the bilge. There is a shower sump pump that operates off the switch in the head on the outboard panel. But it is not attached to anything, just dangling in the bilge over the transducers for the knot meter and the depth meter. The boat was built in 1979. Help? Where is the sump? Thank you, Mark

That is how my F28CK did it. Straight into the bilge. I had folks take showers on deck and pass the shower hose out the window.

Thanks - John

ON MY 1983 F-28CK the shower floor drain is plumbed to a pump under the aft portion of the rear quarter berth and discharges via a plastic thru hull in the transom. It seems like a lot of plumbing just to get a little water off the shower floor but it seems to work fine.
