Removing aft toilet on 40/40

Post by amatuana »

Folks

I am replacing the head with a composting toilet.

The bolts holding down the existing toilet seem to be carridge bolts with nuts under the liner. Any ideas on how to get to them? I have looked under sink and nav stand and behind head.

Thanks - John

I had a similar problem with the head on my F36. I think the head was installed before the lavatory unit was put into the hull. I took the bolts out and let the nuts fall. I may have had to use a hacksaw (don't exactly recall). Reattached the head with lag screws.

On my36/38 there is an access door directly under the head. That's where the intake for the head is located. It's a tight fit for my arm/hand, but pulled the head so it could be rebuilt this spring. You might consider cutting an opening to get at the bolts.
