I'm interested in installing AC in my Freedom 30. Any suggestions?

I've been quite happy with my MarineAir unit. Whatever you get, be sure to size it properly. Too big and it won't run long enough to pull out the humidity. Too small and it'll never keep up. You'll probably need at least ~11,000 BTU for a 30' boat. A self contained unit will probably work fine.

If you install the compressor away from the air handler, be sure to use large enough lines. For example, my compressor is in the lazarret and I have 2 air handlers. A 4000 BTU unit in the aft cabin and a 12,000 BTU unit in the v-berth. For the long run to the v-berth they used a 1/8" HP line and a 1/4" LP line, whereas they should have used 1/4" and 3/8" line respectively.
