I need to pull the bottom gudgeon/rudder shoe from my freedom 44. I have seen the photos in Michele's posts showing two bronze pins holding the shoe to the bottom of the strut. Is there any trick involved in pulling these pins? I started to drill, and whacked it a few times with a light sledge, but nothing budged.
My plan is to clean it well and look for options. I do see other holes around the pins that may be places to attach a threaded press jig. I am leery to apply brut force or heat, but I suspect a little of both may be necessary. Suggestions?
