iPad navigation

Post by wcwcwc »

Has anyone found an app that offers the functions of a chart plotter? Such as: Course to steer, Cross track error, Distance to waypoint, Time to waypoint.

I sail on several different boats and would like a program that would function wherever I am.

I have been using the NavX app on my iPhone for several years. Original cost is $49. Updates for charts are free.

It has full chart function, waypoints, and all the speed, course, distance, time calculations you would expect from a chartplotter. It works well on an iPad, but can be used on a phone by zooming in a little closer.

Check out this list: https://activecaptain.com/navProducts.php

I personally use Garmin BlueChart Mobile and like it a lot, but one of the primary reasons that I use it is for the international chart coverage.

I like Garmin BlueChart as well. As Geoff said, chart coverage is great. I also like the interface with Active Captian.
