Electrical Panel Meters

Post by TonyB »

Hey folks,
purchase almost complete on my new to me 97 Freedom 40/40 "Circe". I am wondering if anyone has had to replace any of the electrical meters on the panel? Both my DC meters are shot. I have contacted Bass, the panel manufacturer, but they have not responsed. I am pretty sure these should be some standard sized meters that are available but if anyone has done this any info would be helpful.

Bass sells meters and shunts through their website, but they may not fit their older panels.

After a lighting strike I had to replace one of my 12V meter. I obtained them from Bass. Here's the info:

Analog Meters [3.5"] 140-3532-016 Type: 8 - 16 VOLTS DC 1 $59.40 $59.40

Tony did you find a good replacement for your meter?
My Bass analog voltmeter is not too helpful if I want an accurate reading. I see plenty of interesting volt/amp combos online, there must be some that would fit in that same spot.
Thanks. Tom

According to their website, Bass Products is no longer in business.

As a previous poster noted, I also used a Blue Sea Systems Mini OLED Voltmeter to replace my Weems & Plath one that went bad -- not a perfect fit, but used a bit of plastic cut to the right size to mount it on -- works fine.

Ditto on Blue Seas. In the process of stripping all the electrical and starting over with Blue Seas panels and all new marine grade wiring.

I found someone sellin Bass reconditioned meters and replaced my failing ones with those. I like the way the look but they have limited functionality. I recently purchased a Bluesea OLED boat monitor that monitors 2 battery banks, 120v system, and either two bilge pumps or two tanks or one of each. But I have yet to install it.
