F 35 running rigging replacement

Post by ceresma »

Hi,
I just purchased a 1995 F35 that has been sitting for the last few years. As a result all control lines have been sitting out and growing a lovely shade of green algae. I need to replace all. Does anyone have the correct line dimensions? Also any suggestions on which line to use will be helpful.
Thanks
Mark

Mark, if it's just algae, why replace the lines? If you put them in a bucket with water and a generous amount of the algae killer used to clean wooden garden furniture, they get clean again.

I had Dwight do the survey and he said that the lines were "done" so I figure that it is a good winter project.
Thanks

Mark,

For some of the Freedoms there is an extensive rigging instruction and materials list; I had that on my F33/35 catketch and on the F44 catketch as well. Perhaps there is one for your model too and there may be an other owner still having this stock list. Otherwise, you could use the old lines for sizing the new ones.

Hi Mark,
I have a copy of the F35 running rigging list. However, it is on the boat and it will be about a week before I get back down. I'll post it after I get it.

Which boat did you buy?

Hi,
The boat is currently IN Mattapoisett Ma called Twende (name to be changed!) hull no 47 (1995)
I will be moving it to NJ sometime in the next few weeks and I figured I would get a jump on things. Thanks for the inffo.

Hi Mark-
I keep my F36/38 in Mattapoisett and have observed Twende over the years. You are right to want to replace the running rigging. I think in the last 5-6 years it was afloat for one season, the remainder have been on the hard, in various states of cover. Congratulations on your purchase.

Brien,
Any tips or advice will be greatly appreciated. I expect to move the boat to a marina in NJ by the end of the month where I will have much easier access to get some winter work completed.
Thanks
Mark

Hi and thanks however the UK F35 is the US F33. This is the US F35 sloop Pedrick design.
Thanks for the attempt.
