As of December, this forum will have been active for 1 year. Since then we've had over 271 people join the forum and generate 1775 posts in 432 topics. I'd call that quite a success! I hope that people like this format and that it's serving their needs.
This forum is hosted utilizing my account with my hosting company, and I have no problem continuing to do that, as I have bandwidth to spare. However, it does cost money to register the FreedomYachts.org domain name. Last year I paid for this, but this year I thought that I'd ask for donations to offset the cost. Here's a breakdown of the renewal rates:
1 yr $19
2 yr $36
3 yr $51
4 yr $56
5 yr $65
If you'd like to contribute, please go to [deleted]. I'll use whatever I get to purchase the longest registration time possible. You can pay using a credit card or a PayPal account. If the regular users of this forum were to kick in a couple of bucks, we'd be all set.
Thanks in advance for your donations!

Geoff, thanks for everything you did and do to set up and maintain our virtual yachtclub. Now if you were to sell booze......

Thank you Geoff, money has been sent. First and last thing I do is check FreedomYachts.org. It has been invaluable.

Re: Helping to Pay for www.FreedomYachts.org
First off, I want to thank everyone who has contributed. The members of the forum really appreciate it!
At this point we've raised about $95, however this was primarily due to a very generous $50 donation from one person. What I'd like to do is to have no one donate more than $10, which translates to $2/year for access to this forum. I plan to refund the difference to those who donated more than $10. Right now I need another $20 to reach that goal. So folks, lets dig deep into your pockets and come up with a few more $5 or $10 donations!

Money sent. Honestly, if people wanted to send more than $10 I'd let them. They probably want to apply ot to future years and keep this great forum going! I know when I donate I really don't want a refund.

Stop the payments! We've reached the goal and more. Those of you who donated more than $10 are going to get a refund as I don't need additional money.
So thanks again to everyone who contributed both funds and/or posts to this forum.

Re: Helping to Pay for www.FreedomYachts.org
I'd much prefer to ask for payments as needed. In this case we've paid for 5 years of domain name registration. If in the future I need to split the forum away from my hosting plan due to storage or bandwidth needs, then I'll be back. In the mean time, the web hosting plan that I have for my web site (http://www.GeoffSchultz.org), http://www.JungleMedicMissions.org and this forum is sufficient to handle them all. Other than daily moderation tasks, this forum takes care of itself.rubbus wrote:Money sent. Honestly, if people wanted to send more than $10 I'd let them. P.S. I've issued refunds to some of you. Some of the payments are marked as "pending" and I can't issue a partial refund until they're not pending.
