Re: Burping coolant loop on Yanmar 3JH2E

Here's a link to a video that does a great job of explaining the cooling system of a Yanmar. In particular, the section starting at around 5:00

Burping coolant loop on Yanmar 3JH2E

I've searched all over for instructions on how to burp the coolant loop on a Yanmar 3JH2E (actually a 3JH2TE), but can't find any. Can someone provide instructions on how to do this?

Thanks, Geoff (in Belize)

Re: Freedom 32 Continuous reef setup

Thanks for this diagram, as it appears that I've been tying it wrong for 25 years. Having said that, what's the difference in actual operation?

May I ask why you want to do this? You seem to want to do away with one of the wonderful aspects of a Freedom. Running wing-on-wing is absolutely great.

Re: Anchor windless and anchor size

Do not, do not, do not get a CQR. The CQR is basically a 1st generation anchor designed by someone in the UK almost a hundred years ago. It was designed for the soft mud that was present in the area. I have owned a CQR, and virtually every time I dropped the anchor, I had to dive in and hand-set it....

Re: Interior lights and and battery charger on shore power?

I'm jumping into this a bit late, but you probably need to equalize your batteries. I don't know if your current charger can do that, but if you're reading 12.3V, you definitely have some issues.

Re: Battery oops

I have the same battery combiner, but it seems to me that it connects once the voltage reaches 13.2V and disconnects somewhere around there. That should keep a depleted battery from discharging the full one.

Re: Updating electronics/mast question

I have a 40/40 and have my antennas and radar mounted on a mast as shown below:

Re: Freedom 35 CK foredeck rope locker

The 4040 has 2 large through-hulls that drain the chain locker. Clearly, this is a location that can/will collect a lot of water. I would suggest that you consider installing some through-hulls to drain your locker.
