Re: AGM vs Lithium
With my 300 AH Li battery, 200A BMS I easily started my 3gm30F in 40 degree temperatures after sitting all winter. Cranking for about 20-30 seconds. I carry a “backup 12v AGM” just in case but have never needed to use it.

Re: AGM vs Lithium
I replaced an 8D AGM with a 300AH (Redodo) Lithium and use the AGM setting to charge with. No problems for past two years. I expect I don’t get 100% of possible charge but it is much better than the AGM in terms of total usable power. I also added a temperature sensor on the alternator to cut charge...

Re: F-35 Has Anyone Installed a Steaming/Deck light combo?
On my 1996 F35 the two breakers are for the forward facing 120 degree steaming light and anchor light. However the mast head fixture (Perko?) requires both steaming and anchor light breakers to be "on" to provide the required 360 degree anchor light.

Re: Dripless seal on f35 -- looking for a photo
Had same problem with my F35. The front seal had moved forward releasing tension on the carbon/graphite bearing. I just loosened the set screws and compressed the bellows about 1 inch and retightened set screws. Don't forget there are two set screws, one on top of the other.

Rudder bearing
I have a Pedrick designed 1996 F35 and following this years haul out have been told I need a new rudder bearing. I haven't seen it yet but assume both upper and lower bearings should be replaced. My freedom manual shows the freedom part number as a Harken part however Harken no longer carries bearin...

Re: Haul-out issues
I would also take a look at the exhaust mixing elbow. They tend to clog/corrode and limit exhaust water flow. I have also heard of birds nesting in the exhaust pipe.

Re: Starting Problems
Had similar issue with my 1996 3GM30. Replaced starter switch, still intermittent starting. Found my 3GM30 had a starter relay not shown in wiring diagram and the ground connection under mounting bolt was the culprit. Cleaned and tightened and no further problem.

Re: Quick Fix for a Dinghy Outboard
Had similar issue with my 2 hp Honda. I drained tank, opened carb settling bowl wing nut and drained bowl, added small amount of new gas with excessive amount I'd dry gas additive. And new spark plug. Pulled until it started to sputter, added more fresh gas and been fine since. Also replaced carb as...

Re: Bottom Paint
I had 12 years of bottom paint build up and it was starting to peel and flake off, so it was time to do the "new" bottom thing I thought about Copercoat but after reading a couple of reviews I decided to go with Eco-Clad, http://www.ecoclad.com/ . It is a hard bottom paint and non toxic. So far, 2 m...

Re: Starter or batteries?
Jeff is correct, 700-1000rpm idle and 3500 max rpm. I would first verify battery is fully charged and good. Turn on all lights and electronics to load the battery and measure the battery voltage. Should be at least 12.3 or more with all load running. If battery is good turn off load and watch batter...
