Re: Mast cable slap (ARGH!)
Thanks for the feedback. I was afraid that the cable ties may not be able to support the weight of the 2 AWG lightning down conductor. I think I will combine a few ideas. First thighten the lightning conductor between mast head and step keeping it in the center of the mast, and limiting its movement...

Re: Mast cable slap (ARGH!)
Hi Barry, I had the exact same idea of attaching the cable ties on the 2 AWG lightning conductor that I will be installing, and to then run the other wires through a loop tied to it. How did it work for you? Are you still satisfied after two years? One concern I have is that the 2 AWG cable is prett...

Re: solar panel system setup - request for advise
Relating to the location of the controller, you typically want it as close to the batteries as possible especially if your panel voltage is high. My panels output at 48V thus the wire size required to minimize voltage drop at 48V is much lower than at 12V. So big $ savings in keeping the longer wire...

Re: Carbon fiber mast/part maker
They certainly can build replacement masts. My masts were both replaced by the previous owner around 2005 and were built by Composite Engineering. They are lighter than the original, yet stronger. They also built the new rotating masts for Farfarer. http://composite-eng.com/portfolio-items/farfarer-...

Re: Reefing Blocks in Boom
I replaced all my reefing lines with ¼" Amsteel Blue uncovered spectra lines. What a difference! The low friction of the spectra makes raising the sails so much easier. I installed covers only on the part of the lines that go around the winch and line blockers. Highly recommended upgrade.

Re: MAST REPAIR PROCESS F39PHS?
Hi Mike. The two masts on my F39 were replaced by the previous owner after being broken in a hurricane. The new ones were built by Composite Engineering (van Dusen Racing Boats) in Concord, Massachusetts. I have attached the drawings made by the previous owner. I have not verified the drawings mysel...

Re: Jack Stands - 39 Express
I bought some Brownell Boat Stands three years ago and have been very satisfied. I use eight SB1 Flat Top stands (64" to 79"), and one SB1V Vee Top stand (64" to 79") to support the bow. The keel rests on on two stacks of 8X8 wood blocks (total 16" high). On the pictures below, You'll see that I hav...
