Re: Questions about F36/38 performance, stability

Scuzzmonkey, I agree with Geoff. I would never prefer a heavy keel boat of comparable displacement and size to the Freedom-38 I have owned for 23 years. The only reason Psyché's Song is for sale is that she has not aged as quickly as I, her original owner, have. (I'm pushing 74.) If you are still i...

Freedom Yachting Caps

I designed my original Freedom Yacht Sailing Cap, and I invite other Freedom owners & sailors to wear their pride at a fraction of what it cost me to design. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-uUo2E6oUvHw/UbP4LEtrjLI/AAAAAAAAGGw/lKV3vVdLRV8/s1600/Hat1229.JPG The cap is deliberately unique, non-commercial, a...

Re: Steve Haarstick's Freedom Sail Trim Tutorial

It's interesting reading Haarstick's manual. He's an authority with street cred. He knows more than I do. But . . . I've owned my Freedom-38 for 23 years and I have buoy-raced for 13 of those years in handicapped classes. I have to say that by now I race by the seat of my pants, by feel. I may glanc...

Re: Jib dimensions and sailmakers for F36

North Sails (California) has made all of my sails for my Freedom-38. That's two sets of mains, jib, & spinnaker. I'm very pleased.

Re: Freedom-38 for Sale on the West Coast

That is a sweet looking 38. I have a 30 up here in Norcal. It sure would be nice to have some additional space down below. I singlehand when I am cruising but when the family is aboard for overnights and such, it does get tight. Operationally the 38 should be very similar to the 30 I would imagine....
