Re: Flopper Stopper Solutions for F32 (Hoyt)?

no,I do not have actual solution ( I am on east coast too, just read your post ). It is just an idea based on Rick's and prev. posts. By sleeve I meant some webbing sling or patch of tough material wrapped around mast and connected to halyard and some extension rope via shackles. Something like " A...

Re: Flopper Stopper Solutions for F32 (Hoyt)?

That's a pretty cool idea. I think I visualize it, but what is your sleeve actually made of? I like the idea of it being adjustable; main halyards pulls it up, a downhaul pulls it down. I'm thinking it wouldn't actually have to be a sleeve. Maybe some super strong wide nylon webbing straps with some...

Re: Flopper Stopper Solutions for F32 (Hoyt)?

Hi Dave, This post was from a couple of years ago, but yes... the boom crutch was a bad idea and you raise yet another strong point for not doing it. What a crazy thing that would be to all of a sudden see your mast sliding up and down the deck hole as the boat rolled. The worst! So now, I will just...

Here's a photo for perhaps more clarity about the "skis"...and a view of the load leveler adjusted for lifting more form the front lifting point on the engine.

Re: Any tips on removing Yanmar 3GMD from Freedom 32

Hi Rick, Well that 1/8" to spare was due to me putting my wood blocks on the motor mounts so they each stuck out a little bit beyond the motor mount bottom plates---my bad. The engine will clear nicely but just make sure the outside of your motor mounts are exactly even with your wood skids and carp...

Got the Engine OUT just fine.

Rick and Dale, Thanks again for your suggestions and here is what I ended up doing... Just an FYI that I was able to get the engine out of my Freedom 32 just fine with very few issues. :D In the end it was not as daunting of a task as I first imagined, and if I could do this solo I think most anyone...

Re: Any tips on removing Yanmar 3GMD from Freedom 32

Dale, The only way I can fit two 300 watt panels of solar is to put them in place of my cloth bimini. I was going to mount them over the cloth bimini but then saw an online article where a guy had replaced his cloth bimini entirely with the solar panels. Doing this I will get slightly more shade too...

Re: Any tips on removing Yanmar 3GMD from Freedom 32

Hey Dale, Well, I'm still not sure what batteries I'm going to use. All the rest of the gear is easy to figure out but there are so many batteries out there. I'm leaning towards 6 volt 245 AH wet cells because there are really cheap, and I believe I can fit all 8 of them in the area the diesel fuel ...

Re: Any tips on removing Yanmar 3GMD from Freedom 32

Hi Dale, Hope your cruising is going well on the other side of the pond. Well, what's my reason to go electric? There are many; The engine is over 30 years old and I don't want to put any more money into it. Also, in my old age I'm no longer fond of; oil changes, oil filters, water filters, diesel n...

Re: Any tips on removing Yanmar 3GMD from Freedom 32

Hey Rick, Great to hear from you and thanks for your tips and info. Well, I'm trying to keep from tearing the engine down too much as I've sold it as a running engine to a guy that wants to crane it out of my boat and right into the bed of his pickup truck at the boat yard. My first problem is to tr...
