Re: vang attachment to boom on 40/40
Jim, we have F 40/40 hull #11. The attachment for our boom is held in with threaded SS machine screws. A few years ago the attachment point for the vang snapped off the fitting in a sloppy seaway and we had a new vang attachment fabricated at our marina. I would recommend changing to a machine screw...

Re: Freedom 40/40 for sale
Philip, thanks for reaching out. We love our boat and we are not looking to downsize. We just winterized her and I guess will be sailing her again next season. Our plans include moving to the Caribbean on a 75% basis and keeping a “bigger” boat in the northeast isn’t going to work for us. St Croix i...

Re: doing work on the 40/40 mast
Tony, when Paul Dennis refitted our boat he installed a back up main halyard (including spare shackle) which came in very handy when our main halyard broke at the sheave while sailing to windward. The main came down in the lazy jacks and we simply redeployed the spare main halyard to the rope clutch...

Re: F 40/40 Engine Raw Water intake
Hi Tony, we have Freedom 40/40 hull #11 Star Struck. When she was refitted by Paul Dennis in 2012 one of his improvements was to install a 90 degree elbow with a removable plug facing upwards at the location where the raw water intake comes through the hull(before the raw water strainer). This allow...

Freedom 40/40 for sale
Hello fellow Freedom fans. After nearly a decade of ownership we have made the difficult decision to sell our beloved 40/40 Star Struck. She is a beautiful boat and given us many years of great memories but life circumstances have led us to the decision to sell. She was refitted in 2011 by Paul Denn...

Re: Restoring modified Freedom 45 CC to self-tending jib?
Rich, we have a 40/40 with a camberspar. I don't see anyway that you could use a camberspar with roller furling. While the roller furling is convenient and frees up the foredeck for handling ground tackle, I have found that the camberspar is far superior to roller furling when under sail- especially...

Re: Grohe faucet in pedrick 35
FYI, I had an ugly Grohe faucet in our aft head and purchased a brand new Grohe at Costco that was a perfect replacement. Years ago had a Grohe in our kitchen at home and the diverter valve never worked right after the first 2 years. Replaced it with a Delta which has a lifetime warranty..Paul Lange...

Re: Lazy Jacks issue
Not sure what a "contrast" is but what I was trying to convey is that with the main raised and the main sheet pulled in tight, I adjust the lazy jacks so that there is just a little slack in them using the cleat on the underside of the forward third of the boom. When you release the main halyard the...

Re: Lazy Jacks issue
We Have a Freedom 40/40 and here's how we handle the lazy jacks. Our system has a cleat on the underside of the fwd third of the boom. Th lazy jacks are one continuous line which starts at that cleat, runs up to the block on the port lazy jack, down to a stainless eye on the rear third of the boom, t...
