Re: help

That's great. It's almost always the simplest things like clean fuel, air and a clean prop on a diesel.

Re: using a drill for raising the main

I appreciate your concern. If the environment is that wet then the drill stays inside more out of concern for the longevity of the drill then my own! There don't seem to be any obvious ground sources in the vicinity of the winches on the cabin top and the GFCI outlet that the drill is plugged into i...

Re: using a drill for raising the main

I have been using an old 1/2" 120volt Milwaukee right angle drill to raise the sails on my Freedom 39 Express for about 4 years. It works great. I have a winch bit fitting for it http://www.winchbit.com/ I plug it into the inverter and don't have to worry about a battery going dead or needing to be ...

Re: Communications

I agree with Mike's and Geoff's comments, the Go works well once you figure it out. The boat I was on used one a few months ago when we crossed the Atlantic. Two of us were the primary users and we both downloaded weather gribs and played with the routing software daily, which was great for endless ...

Re: Iridium Go!

Looking forward to your review of it. I'm heading across that Atlantic from the BVI to Europe in May/June and have been looking very hard at the Iridium Go. I crossed the Pacific a couple of years ago on a boat that used the Delorme Inreach and it worked well enough.

First Race

Over the weekend I entered, and was the race director, for the Pigs in the Water Regatta. If you are at all curious with the actual event you can visit facebook dot com/happyislandyachtclub. I've won the PITWR a few times in the past with my previous boat that had a GIANT PHRF handicap. This year I ...
