Re: F-35 Has Anyone Installed a Steaming/Deck light combo?
Paul Dennis i stalled one for me while the mast was unstepped. You can drill and tap up to 1/4 " fasteners from what I've heard.

Re: Freedom 21 Port lights
Two possibilities- replace with new ports such as those from Newfound Metals- very high quality SS. I did thismon my previous Freedom. This Freedom I simply bought gasket material that did not match the original from Defender and it has worked perfectly. Simply remove old gasket, clean and stick on ...

Re: 1988 F36 w/wet deck - considering making offer anyway
I don't know about the deck core- the person to speak to would be Paul Dennis at Warren River Boatworks. He is more than "very" knowledgeable. Also very nice person. Mark Edwards (now a yacht broker) is likewise very knowledgeable but I don't know his contact info. Google Warren River Boat Works, Wa...

Spinnaker dousing
Does anyone have a problem with the spinnaker hanging up at the pulpit when dousing? It seems to have some difficulty changing direction from entering the "mouth" of the turtle transitioning the right angle to continue in the sleeve along the deck. Your thoughts appreciated!

Re: Windlass
A manual windlass is very slow and some amount of work. Never runs out of battery power, though. I recommend a vertical windlass like I put on my F36 (too small for your boat) but the advantages are- you can pull from any direction (ie: kedging off when aground) providing the windlass is powerful en...

Re: Ulmer Kolius Stack Pack
Mike, thanks for the detailed reply and information. I have already started leaving the halyard on and hooking it under a reef hook then snugging it down. The boat has the Strong track and cars so the sail goes up and down easily. I've tried slacking off the lazy jacks to make it easier to hoist (ba...

Ulmer Kolius Stack Pack
"New" 38 came with the UK version of a stack pack. Test sailed the boat two days last weekend prior to the voyage from RI to CT. Overall, I was very disappointed with the stack pack. I had original slides and lazy jacks on the 36 and with good McLube maintenance the main came down fast and easy. It ...

Thanks to everyone again- I will definitely use whipping cord through that little hole! Paul had one - a friend picked it up already.
