Re: Freedom 40/40 prop damage

Thank you, Pat. How would you inspect it on the hard before launching? Just seeing how the shaft turns, checking tolerances?

Freedom 40/40 prop damage

Hello Freedom lovers, Our prop (a Cambell Sailor) was damaged by the marina during a haul-out. I have not seen it, as it was removed and sent out for repairs without telling me about any of it. My questions to the forum are: Can a fixed prop be restored to its previous smooth-running state if it has...

Re: F40/40 Main Halyard Chafe

Geoff,
Luckily, we have a spare external halyard, which was the previous main halyard. I'll have to check the sheave more thoroughly, though I'm not sure how easy it is without taking it apart. Which I can't do while at the top of the mast.

Re: F40/40 Main Halyard Chafe

Our main halyard on our 40/40 had some chafing around 8" above the shackle. It didn't look bad, and the halyard is still somewhat new - 5 years old, supposedly a good quality one from Vela Sailing Supply (don't recommend them). Then it snapped this weekend beating into 20+ knot winds and heavy chop ...

Re: Propeller for 40/40

Thanks so much to everyone who responded so far! I'm researching these props and learning things. The Yachting Monthly prop test some years ago showed that some folders (Flexofold) more than hold their own in thrust and stopping power against a fixed 3-blade prop, but I'm not sure how applicable tha...

Re: Propeller for 40/40

Geoff, or anyone with a F40/40 and a Yanmar 3JH-TE, would you happen to know what the reduction gear ratio is on the transmission?

Re: Impeller puller for Yanmar 3JH series

So, it wouldn't work on an OEM impeller with no metal thread, it seems? That's just held on the hub by friction?

Re: Impeller puller for Yanmar 3JH series

Hi Geoff, have you tried this impeller puller? Has anyone? Looking at the picture of it, I don't understand how it would work with this impeller. We've just tried to replace the impeller again after some years, and the second experience has proved to be just as traumatic as the first one, using righ...

Re: Marelon Valve Replacement

Can you tell where the valve is leaking? Forespar is easy to work with - the valve has numbers on the side and you can call forespar and get a replacement kit - the handle lever, black stack with 4 bolts/screws. Pretty easy and inexpensive fix. Basically the replacement kit is everything in pic two...
