Re: Small leak

I didn’t realize the spare seal option had its own case and I was thinking I would just slip the extra seal on the shaft in the small space that is available, but the more I think about it now, I realize it would probably get damaged if it did not have a protective case. Thanks for pointing this out...

Freedom 28M Reunion

Imagine my surprise when I approached the slips at Great Bay Marine on Friday to find another 28' Mull Freedom. On Saturday I met the owner, Brock. He too bought his sailboat two years ago, and it is also his first. This is a special serendipitous occasion that I thought my fellow Freedom lovers wou...

Re: Small leak

I bought two seals, one to keep on the shaft as backup in case it happens again.
Other than improperly installed seals, I am wondering what kind of things would lead to the seals premature failure. Perhaps engine vibration at idle or misalignment.

Re: Replacing leaking port gaskets on a 1987 F-30

Though I do not have any leaks yet on my 87’ 28, while replacing my screens this summer I took notice that the gaskets will need to be done soon. Thanks for sharing, I will do the same.

Battery oops

While poking around the engine bay to trace a small leak I discovered my negative lead from cranking battery was not connected at the start of this season. It is connected to battery(other end just hanging), but not the house battery. I am surprised the boat kept starting and all systems working. I ...

Re: Small leak

I tightened the ring clamps that were not already tight, but did not reef down hard.

Re: Small leak

This is only my second season and new to all of this and with that being said I think the leak is from the stuffing box. I feel like the small hose feeding the seal should be connected to a lubricant but it is not.

Small leak

Hello all, After a great day of sailing on Saturday I noticed a small leak, a trickle coming in through a what appears to be a lifted fiberglass seam under the engine tray . Has anyone else had this issue , have any ideas of the most likely area it is entering , and or a suggestion for some kind of ...
