Very late to this thread but bought our 85 39PH last fall and sailing on the Chesapeake. So far we really like this boat but there is a definite learning curve compared to traditional rigs. Not sure the difference between the 39 express and 39 PH but I have an 85 version of the latter:

- 4JH5E
- Kanzaki KM 35P
- 2.36:1
- No idea about angle of deflection
- FWIW - 3 bladed bronze prop, 18" with 15deg pitch
- Running at 2100 RPM does about 6.8 - 7kts boat speed

Thanks Geoff. Rubber sheet makes sense and is easy. Interesting issue with your collar riding up since mine has had the opposite problem. Boom Vang mast collar

New owner of PH39. The collar supporting the boom vang on the main mast gradually slid down onto the mast boot crushing the tape (even more than in the pic).
