Electric Head
Looking to install an electric head in my F38. Any recommendations on model type? I bought one last year but had to return it as it did not quite fit in the normal head space of an F38.

Anchor windless and anchor size
My F38 came with a 11kg Bruce anchor, which I think is too small. I am planning to upgrade to a 35lb CQR. Is this sufficient for general cruising in the Northeast? Also planning on installing a windless. Any recommendations for a clean fit on an F38?

Re: Freedom 36 Sloop propeller
I switched from a 2 blade prop to a three blade Kiwi prop with a diam of 16.5 inches and a 22 deg pitch. It looks small but does a great job in forward and reverse. Kiwi will size it for you if you give them the boat details.

Re: Rigid boom vang for an F38
Thank you for the advice. I am going with the Garhauer RV20 with a custom collar for the mast. Total cost $695 incl collar and shipping.

Rigid boom vang for an F38
I am installing a rigid boom vang on my F38. Any recommendations on type and any special installation issues ( bolt vs rivet, backing plate for mast, etc ) ?

Good idea. Thank you. Mast is coming out this winter so I will get a chance to do that.

Re: SS Marine Hot Water Tank
You don't have to remove the tank if it is just the element. My element just went (leaked around the seal) for the second time.

F38 engine replacement
Has anyone installed a new Yanmar in their F38? Interested in engine cost plus install costs. Is this a better investment than a rebuild ( resale value, peace of mind, etc.) I would like to get engine concerns off my boat agenda and focus on sailing!

Re: Yanmar 3GM30F heavy smoke at high RPM
I am getting heavy white smoke on start up. Once running it goes away. I have no problems starting the engine. I had a mechanic replace the head gasket and clean the injectors. I replaced the elbow and installed a new lift pump. Any thoughts?
