Re: Eyebrow trim in the Bay Area?
I keep thinking that one day I'm going to yank that stuff off ("eyebrow trim", huh?), paint the groove brown and be done with something that is so completely non-functional. Any reason not to?

Geoff, thanks so much for what is probably a pretty thankless job as our moderator. At least (or I hope so anyway) you don't have to deal with many trolls here. I love our little community and find it invaluable although I do need to report back on some of the projects I've completed on Kynntana ove...

Ed, we're going to miss you! Hope you pop back on here from time to time. The way I see it, a Freedom owner will always remain part of the family.
Happy new adventures wherever they may take you, too

Re: Propane Tank for Freedom 32
I have one that recently wouldn't seal but the tank is 17 years old and starting to show corrosion so I'm planning to buy a new one. West Marine sells the tall, 5 lb Worthington cylinders for $230. It might be a little pricy but I don't mess with sketchy high pressure containers that can kill ya. Pl...

Re: F28 (Mull) refrigeration
You got it, Jeff! Just give me a little time to get the order in for the new one. Quinn's is still not open except for take out, I think, but the new property manager has been fixing up the buildings and the grounds including the marina. It's looking super nice. Please check back in a few weeks. Hop...

Re: F28 (Mull) refrigeration
It's an Adler Barber Cold Machine. For what it's worth, I am probably a month or two away from pulling mine and replacing the whole system. It draws something like 6 amps, which is too much for my one solar panel to handle on overcast days at sea. Happy to send you all the pieces (compressor, tubing...

Re: F28 (Mull) refrigeration
There should be a compressor nearby. Mine is in the cockpit locker up against the wall behind the icebox, but I have a 38. See if you can trace the copper tubing that goes from the back of icebox. Maybe the compressor was removed and the cooling plate was left as is. It is not difficult to replace t...

Re: F32: what are these “circular cutouts” on the deck?
The biggest problem with these is if the boat is not "trimmed" properly. If the boat is "down by the head" or "down by the stern," water will puddle forward or aft of the the recess. Not to hijack this thread, but I'm curious as to what's the alternative. On my F38, it does not have any drains on t...

Re: Freedom 40/40 taking on water only while engine running
After tracking down multiple avenues for leaks over the years, this past weekend, I realized that a small weep is coming from the starboard cockpit drain fitting. They've never been replaced since I've owned Kynntana for the past 7 years and they look original. She turned 32 on Saturday so I'd say t...
