Anyone have a windvane on a F38?
I am looking at the Monitor windvane and was wondering what has been others' experiences mounting a self-steering system to the sugar scoop sterns. What type did you get; how easy was it to install; how well did it work downwind, in big seas, heavy wind sailing...? All opinions/suggestions would be ...

Re: San Francisco Bay rendezvous September 6th 2014, anyone?
The gooseneck on Kyntanna sheared on Saturday as I was lowering my (brand new) mainsail. Luckily, we had just gotten inside Pillar Point Harbor and out of 8-ft swells. The boom is now lashed to the toe rail. If conditions are good next Sunday, will leave very early and motor back to Treasure Island....

Has anyone modified their nav station?
I am thinking of changing the nav station in my F38 so it has a small bench against the aft berth wall, which is where the hanging locker is now. I'm wondering if anyone else has done this and how it turned out? Alternatively, has anyone modified the pull-out stool so it better accommodates someone ...

Re: Added ballast to the keel of a Freedom 39 DS?
If you decide to anchor in Clipper Cove, come say hello. I'm in the middle of the marina there closest to the first gate (blue hull, Freedom 38, Kynntana). I think the city allows 5 days in Clipper Cove before you have to move on for at least 2, but I can check and get back to you. There are very fe...

Re: Haul-out issues
I replaced the mixing elbow on Kynntana just a little over a week ago. My engine had started to bog down above 1100 RPM. The easy part (~15 minutes) was removing the whole assembly, which consists of 4 bolts to the engine and the hoses on the other side. I took the whole piece to List Marine, an eng...
