Re: Shoal draft or regular

Without question, given your sailing area plus the racing component, you want the deeper stick. ;)

Re: Deck gel-coat crazing

First question I would ask, is there any moisture under the crazing? If not it is cosmetic, imho. In which case I would clean and wax it regularly. If there is a moisture content that concerns you, then you will want to seal it. But first, consider coring below the crazing to eliminate most of the m...

Re: Adlour Barbour Refrigeration on Hoyt F32

A couple of things I know... one... I am an extremely late add to this subject. two... I am not an expert on insulation. With that said, the products collectively called reflective insulation or Reflectix evidently have a terrible record of testing well below the manufacturer's R value claims. R val...

Re: Huyt 32 tender

"have you tried anything else before settling on the portaboat?" No, it is the first and only tender used. Mostly, I day-sail without the tender from a dock. When over-nighting I have only towed it. The extra benefit of folding/storing it on the deck have not been used yet, but it will be next year....

Re: Huyt 32 tender

I chose the 8' Porta Bote and teamed it up with a Nissan 3.5. Both are an easy store and manageable.
It won't take the football team water skiing, but it serves me well.

Re: 1985 Hoyt Freedom 32 for sale

As a proponent of full disclosure, it appears this boat is or has been in charter service. That, in itself is NOT a negative... because being professionally maintained is the key. Most of us do not have a pro at hand. Looks great too.

Re: climbing your unstayed carbon mast, your experience?

Replaced my mast head wind cups last fall. Used a borrowed harness attached to the main halyard. While I was being cranked up, an internal snap in the winch gave moment for pause but all was well. Turned out a spring broke in the winch, but after 30 years it was time to rebuild the winches anyway. B...

Re: Cabin Air Dryers

I know what you mean! I am buying into this description from one of the companies.

"By gently warming surrounding air to just above the dew point, this dryer inhibits surface moisture that mold needs to form and reproduce."

Cabin Air Dryers

Regarding electric air dryers:
Any comments on the two most popular?

Davis Instruments 1458 130 Watt Air Dryer

Ironwood Pacific DryWave 1000 Air Dryer

Thanks in advance for any comments.
