Re: mounting anchor windlass
I installed a Lofrans Tigres on Ketch 22 a few years ago. I was so pleased with the performance that I was moved to write this: http://www.ketch-22.com/text/windlass.html There are four links on that page. One labeled 'thing of beauty' shows the windlass mounted on the bow. Ketch 22 is an F39 Expres...

Re: Treasure Island Rendezvous
Hello fellow raft up attendees. Ketch 22 will be arriving in Clipper Cove around noon, 10/14. She comes equipped with a 50lb Bruce and 200 feet of chain. No problems with a raft-up if needed. The wine thing ashore and/or the happy hour afloat are fine. My wife has suggested she can bring a lasagna i...

Re: Freedom 39 wiring diagram
Hello Robinho, I've owned Ketch 22, a Freedom Express, since 97. I am the second owner and I've never seen any electrical diagrams for any F39. I would be interested if you discover any. My suspicion is that modifications made after the factory would make obsolete any drawings you might find. I do h...

Re: widlass
Lofrans Tigres. Defender sells them.
Pricey, but reliable and just the right size for your yacht.
I've had one on Ketch 22 for 5 years.
Regards,
tm

Re: MAST REPAIR PROCESS F39PHS?
Hello Riki, I think you'll find that the reason there has been so much interest in this thread is because it is so unusual for a Freedom mast to break or break free and "hole" the hull. To decrease the odds of such an occurrence, Ketch 22 has twin running backstays to relieve the stress on the mizze...

Re: Staysails on cat ketchs & cat schooners
I own Freedom Express Ketch 22, hull # 22. If you follow this link ( http://www.ketch-22.com/ ) you'll find an image of Ketch 22 sailing in SF Bay with her staysail flying. I used the staysail in the Pacific Cup race (SF to Kaneohe Bay) in 2004. In the F39, you can't tack the main without dropping t...

Re: Noisy masts.
I absolutely agree that adding additional L brackets is the wrong way to proceed. I'm not even convinced that the first one is a good idea because it focuses the force of any mast movement on a very small (relative to the size of the mast) piece of the overall mast base. Building the box is the appr...
