Another suggestion - I've got a pump like Tricia's on a platform at the top of the bilge just under the floorboards. Everything is much easier to access than either the original position under the chart table or under the sink.

Do not install a Norscott seal as when it fails it dumps transmission oil into the ocean.

Diesel is not gasoline. Why not just fill the tank with water if you are concerned and cut the tank out?

Mike - I have BoatUS/Geico insurance as well and the premium is about the same as yours. The Marlon valve you propose will allow you to flush out your engine, and it would permit using the engine to pump out water from the boat; but it would preclude being able to clear weeds from the raw water intake.
