Re: Perko 493/500 water strainer blocking flow to water pump?
Doubt this is your problem if strainer was not recently installed but reminded me of a story. Broke the drain plug on strainer. Foolishly decided to install a new strainer. Should have just epoxied the plug. Had hired a 'mechanic' to do other work, included this simple task to give him so more hours...

Re: LED Bulb replacement F-32
Are you referring to the old standard, 12 volt bayonet style bulb? Used in automotive industry as well. The first replacements were unwieldy. Disks of multiple LEDs that wired to a bayonet connector. I passed on that iteration. Newest are a few LED emitters on stuck into a brass bayonet connector. J...

Re: F35 (Pedrick) V birth tank
Our F35 Pedrick has the bow WATER tank. Assuming yours is same, look for an overflow drain that empties into forward portion of bilge. We have two fill points, one midship for portside tank, one more forward on portside that fills the bow tank. I know it's full when I hear water running into bilge. ...

Re: New to me Freedom 35
I'll make it three. As in 1993 F35-Pedrick. Leaks sound just like what I will be checking sometime tomorrow. SweeTART is docked on opposite side of the bay from you and Tom at Coyote Point in San Mateo. Definitely get a look at Tom's boat, he's got it done nicely. Next task for us is bottom paint. A...

Re: 3GM30F tachometer not working
Had a new tach installed and it will sit dead, pegged on zero unless I rev the engine to near max throttle while in neutral. Once done, consistent readout.

Re: Yanmar 3GM30F heavy smoke at high RPM
Keep the glow plugs engaged longer and drop warmup speed. We ALWAYS had copious white smoke on startup. No other time. Idle would be rough. Kept rocker switch depressed longer and cured both symptoms. Could reduce throttle to at or near straight up (neutral idle speed) and reduced smoke dramatically...

Look what Under Armor made for us!
Found this shirt as part of a 4th of July display at Sportsman's Warehouse here in California. Under Armor with a convenient logo appropriate to a certain group of boat owners.
In retrospect, should have had the better (looking) half model for the camera.

Re: Shaft Seal Squeak F30
From my experience, the shaft seal needs to be 'burped' after periods of inactivity. The water in seal dissipates, creates a vacuum and the shaft squeaking is overheating do to lack of water. Burping is simple. Place a rag in your hand, pull back seal toward prop shaft (aft). Small gush of water bef...
