I wouldn’t think so. Any holes are going to weaken the structure. Get a good quality bosuns chair if you need to go up the mast.

AS John mentioned mine also lacks an “L” bracket. I have two holes at the base of the mast and bolts thread into matching holes in the “hat” base. I recall reading that the bolts or brackets are there to prevent the mast from rotating not for structure. Mine has a very snug fit when stepped. The cre...

Definitely not normal..Are you missing either the “L” bracket or the bolt that holds the mast steady on the “Hat”?

There is a list of all the various lines including lengths, diameters and types. I’m not sure if I got it from this forum or if i have a copy. I will look through my stuff and if i find it I will send it to you.

I’ve noticed while rigging mine that it goes on much more easily if the curve of the spar is oriented upwards. Hope it helps.

Pulling the mast on a 32 is a fairly simple process. There will be either an “L” bracket or bolts holding the base of the mast to the polyurethane hat that it sits on. Remove those. He’s not officially retired, he’s just working on what interests him. He goes sailing every day in the season. He’s mostly making old style sails with modern materials.
