Changes to a Hoyt 32 Cat Sloop for longer distance
Hi All I have a Freedom 32 (except it is in the UK so 33) Sloop. I am currently planning a bucket list type trip of sailing around Britain over a period of 3-6 months at the end of my current contract. What I want to know is this. What changes have you made to your boat to increase its sea worthines...

UK South Coast or Solent rally
Evening all, How many Freedoms are out there in the Solent? Or along the South Coast of the UK? I only ever see a lone one every now and then. Do any of you out there like the idea of a cruise for a meet up? Obviously looking at next year now. Feronia is still in the water but I only sail around the...

Re: Spinnaker experience
Hi Dale
I drew up the size of the steel work on the bow and then told the cover maker how much drop I wanted and what length of tube to include the spinnaker and he made one up from my back of a cigarette packet drawing,
It works fine.
Keep well
Peter

Re: Success with AIS/4G/LTE+ & Wifi combined
Hi Gerald I am certain that the Vesper does do NMEA0183. The Spec has the following in it: "Connectivity: NMEA 2000, NMEA 0183, USB, Wireless 802.11 b/g - All input NMEA 0183 sentences are repeated to the NMEA 0183 output, USB and WiFi. Selected NMEA 2000 PGN's (heading, wind, depth, speed, temperat...

What do you use as main & jib sheet jammers on your Hoyt 32?
Ok so have a UK built freedom 33 which is the same as the freedom 32 cat sloop.
My jammers for main and jib need replacing.
What system do you use?
Many thanks in advance.
Keep well
Peter

Hi Geoff
That is such a good mast head unit. Certainly gives me pause for thought.
Keep well

Re: What do you use as your VHF aerial? Freedom 33 Cat Sloop
well a good while later.. Daughter went up and unscrewed the old one. The whip had actually snapped off so I have put yet another one on as I really miss the windex. At the same time I have taken Bill's advice and put a spare VHF whip aerial on the comms mast on the stern, it is all wired up with a ...

Re: Huyt 32 tender
Hi Scott Sorry I missed the question... so a year later. So I used Dek-King a synthetic teak. I find it is cool to the feet and seems to keep the cabin cooler too. An original owner had covered the entire topsides in a garage paint and it was horrible. It took me over 100 hours to get the paint off ...

Re: How do I Install a Jib on the Camber Spar?
I'd go with what Stephen said but I also make sure that the curve of the spar in the sleeve is curved upwards making the chord, in comparison to the sail it self, as short as possible. Then tug.

Success with AIS/4G/LTE+ & Wifi combined
Hi All I thought I would let you know of a small bit of success I have had with creating a single wifi network that can off load to a marina wifi or switch to 4g/LTE+. It was far cheaper than a Digital Yacht equivalent which was the cheapest alternative I found here in the UK. So firstly I installed...
