Re: sails for Freedom 35 cat ketch - II
Just my $.02 worth... All of the F21s and F25s were built with conventional booms and have a track on the mast and slides on the luff of the main. A good spray of "Sail Coat" each season helps a lot with the friction. Even so, I have considered adding a grommet to the head of my mainsail so that I m...

Re: Removing Bottom Paint Using Roll-Off
Micron Extra/CSC are ablative paints. However, that doesn't mean that you don't end up with buildup which needs to be removed. How many coats of paint do you have in some areas? I decided not to paint the entire bottom this year as due to our non-stop moving last year, the bottom remained very clea...

Re: How to determine yearly fuel usage
Internal combustion engines do produce CO2, CO and water by burning hydrocarbons. Inefficient combustion, where there is insufficient oxygen present in the mixture within the combustion chamber, produces CO. I stand corrected on the CO2 vs CO point. After all my degree is in history. Glad to hear y...

Re: How to determine yearly fuel usage
But, internal combustion engines DO NOT produce CO2 they produce CO. The respiration of animals produces CO2 and green plants then convert it back to Carbon and Oxygen during photosynthesis. These are FACTS one once could find in all earth science books from elementary school thru college until abou...

Broken Rope Clutch Lever
Hi all, Had some good heavy air sailing today. I left the marina at around 1330 and motored out to where I could turn into the wind and raise the mainsail. I killed the motor and fell off the wind to reach across the lake. As I came out of the lee of the shore I was hit with the full force of the wi...
Re: Racing?
Numbknots, The F21 has a fixed keel in both of the US configurations. The "Standard" F21s have a fixed fin and draw about 3'9" while the Shoal Draft boats (like mine) have a fiberglass enclosed Pb skeg keel and draw just 2'. I race mine as a catboat (no jib) and fly my spinnaker from the gun mount. ...
Re: Racing?
My club held its anual dinner 2 weeks ago and I found out that I had placed third in the Fall Handicap Series sailing my F21 SD single handed. I posted the following on the http://www.freedom21.info site about my First Place in the 2009 Great River Race: The Browns Creek Sailing Club hosted its 40th...
