Re: Topic 1000
That write-up and the pictures are of the sole refinishing were super nice, Bob. Thanks! I need to redo some of the sole boards around my leaky mast. Your write-up has not been immortalized in my To Do file :D This thread has motivated me to list some projects that I will be doing in the next few mo...

Re: Deck Drains on Freedom 36/38
That sounds like a good plan on a great deal of a boat! I've been so happy with my 38 -- three years this January. Happy sailing

Re: Deck Drains on Freedom 36/38
It was probably installed by the PO. My 38 does not have them, but I'm thinking of adding something like this because the water pools at the aft section of the deck. It's not so bad now because we don't get much rain, but an area with more regular precipitation would probably result in creating rot ...

Re: Forestay on Freedom 38
I have found that the keys to pointing are to use the traveler -- bringing it at least 3/4 to windward -- and the vang on full. I also bought a loose-footed main, and usually keep the foot open unless it's really windy, generally above 28 knots. Doing all this, I still can't point higher than anothe...

Sailmon,
Could you please send info on the type of furler you're using? And how it has been working for you?

Good discussion on using butyl tape here: http://www.sailnet.com/forums/gear-maintenance/63554-bedding-deck-hardware-butyl-tape.html This is what I plan to use for my port lights as well as when I rebed the stanchions. I've heard independently from the Sailnet forum that butyl is great stuff for kee...

Re: How to get rid of the bag (in the main)
Not sure of the cabin top set up on the 33, but my cunningham is run to port through a cam cleat that was installed next to the traveler cleat. The outhaul is cleated on the boom, which is hard to pull when loaded up. I still need to work on that. I was out sailing twice last weekend so I know the "...

Re: Chamber spar
This is the same as the attachment on the 36/38, though I wish I had known this was the topping lift for the jib before I removed it I am using the spinnaker halyard for this purpose in the meantime.

Re: How to get rid of the bag (in the main)
When I bought a new mainsail for my F38, I thought they cut it wrong because there was a big gap near the tack. I also thought maybe the halyard was slipping, but now I think the bend in the mast under sail creates that pouch because no amount of increasing halyard tensioning would get rid of it. Th...
