Thanks for the great photos, Gerald. I guess you need an enclosure in those climes.
It looks warm and comfy inside. I reckon a wee dram wouldn't go astray on a wet evening on board.

Re: Cockpit Enclosure for Freedom 38
Thank you for your comments. Doesn't sound like you used the full enclosure too often! Would love to see some photos if you ever take any during the season. in the meantime I re-canvassed the existing canvas and will look to do the side and back enclosures next winter.

Re: Boating through Cape Cod Canal-Advice?
You can enter the canal as soon as it turns west at the bridge. If you exit the canal into Buzzards Bay in the afternoon you might encounter the "Buzzards Bay Chop". This occurs with the typical SW afternoon breeze against 5+ knots of current from the canal setting up an uncomfortable steep chop. If...

Re: Prop Shaft installation
Although I believe you can get the shaft passed the rudder with the bearing in place. My yard insisted on dropping the rudder when they installed a new shaft and bearing.

Re: winter storage-mast in or out?
Mast in for 5 of the past 6 years. No problems. I have a furclough cover. I took the mast out one year to install new mast electrics and check the rigging. Cheaper to store and to be honest I am always concerned about possible damage by pulling the mast.

Re: Feathering prop on an F36/38
I installed a Kiwi folding prop on our F38. It cost $1500 and I am very happy with it. I replaced a 2 bladed fixed prop. Great improvement all around. Forward, reverse and sailing. The prop looks 'light' but I pulled a lobsterpot line across it while sailing and it sounded like I ran aground. I was ...

Cockpit Enclosure for Freedom 38
I am thinking of putting a full enclosure or part enclosure ( no back) on the cockpit of my Freedom 38. Currently has a separate bimini and dodger. Has anyone done this? Would love to see some photos or ideas on this. Photo of our boat is attached.

Re: Shaft Coupling and shaft vibration
Final Report Well I tried to balance the engine twice. The vibration continued and seemed to get worse. Finally I had the boat hauled. The strut was bent off center and the cutless bearing was gone. The coupling was also worn. I think the strut may have been bent by an object. That caused the prop s...

Re: Shaft Coupling and shaft vibration
Thank you Jim and Erik for the advice. I have a split coupling. I will take it apart this weekend. Hopefully I can just reinsert the key with some lockite and get through the rest of the season. Otherwise...
