Re: Jib top reached attachment?

:) Thank you. I hope to get one as soon as I finish paying off the current boat projects!

Jib top reached attachment?

Can someone tell me where the jib top reacher sail attaches to the mast? Is it fractional or at the masthead? I have my mast down, redoing the mast crane to attach some new things including running an extra main halyard. We're at the point of finishing, and just want to make sure I haven't missed an...

Re: Feathering prop on an F36/38

I have a two blade fixed prop right now. I have learned to work with serious prop walk and have put up with the hum of the prop because it spins under sail. I am hauling out in late March and will install a three-blade Max-Prop. After the sticker shock wears off a bit and I have had some time to pla...

Re: Anyone installed winches on cockpit coaming?

It would never fly on my boat - as one of the admiral's favorite seats is at the end of the coaming - leaning against the corner of the stern rail. Sigh...mine, too. I really appreciate the thoughts though! I like the idea of a cam cleat for the main sheet. I had considered doing this from the begi...

Re: Anyone installed winches on cockpit coaming?

Yes, this is exactly what I keep coming back to and would actually prefer to do. However, in this setup, it seems you would still need to set the AP and leave the wheel to be able to make adjustments to the spinnaker. It's not unusual around here to go from a nice 15 knots to crazy in no time. I'm s...

Anyone installed winches on cockpit coaming?

I am in the process of setting up an asymmetrical spinnaker and I don't know where to run the sheets. I also want to be able to manage the mainsheet from the wheel since I singlehand a lot and don't want to set the AP every time I want to make a small sail adjustment. Both of these options seem to d...

Re: Topic 1000

Glad to see so much activity on this topic. Ed and Bob, thanks for the updates and details on sole refinishing. I've been doing a bunch of reading and am planning to go the Tung oil route at this point. I am leaning toward Waterlox as the product of choice. Hope to have a door in the shrink wrap th...

Re: Topic 1000

Thanks, Tricia! It does make sense to just do it right the first time. You make the fix sound easy, too. I received a Dremel as a gift last year, but haven't found much need for it...yet.

Re: Topic 1000

Thanks, Brian! I definitely used too much butyl at first, pulled it all off, ran a small bead on the outside piece, then stuck it back in piece by piece to fill in the gap from the inside. Like all projects, I thought it was going to be pretty easy....now that I'm reading a bit more about the proces...

Re: Topic 1000

Oh, I also see lots of headliner projects that others are going to be doing. Mine is coming down, too. Feedback on what you did, what material you used, and the 'ease' of the project, would also be great to hear back on! I also need to rebed portlights. First one that I pulled off seemed to have a m...
