Re: Removing countertop around the fridge in an F38

Thanks Erik! I have someone coming back on Friday. It might get done then, but certainly would be nice to have your input. If you're around Friday morning, I'm at Treasure Island Yacht Harbor.

Removing countertop around the fridge in an F38

I am well on my way to demolishing the old countertops and installing Corian in my F38 (posh, huh?). I am now ready to pull off the plywood that goes around the icebox. There is an inch of hard insulation around the edges of the icebox and underneath the plywood. Does anyone have experience with thi...

Re: Engine preparations - origional F32 yanmar

Congratulations!! Ditto on the recommendations to take her out for an hour or two to run the engines hard under load. The exhaust elbows get plugged and it is suggested that these are changed every 8-10 years or so. You might also want to take a look inside the fuel tank or just get the fuel polishe...

Re: seaworthiness

Ah no, I'm the blue hull at Treasure Island. Wish I were at South Beach. The Freedom you've seen there might be in charter, if it's the one I'm thinking of. I've seen it out sailing, but never racing. Mine needs a serious scrubbing, but it's a beauty when you're at least 20 feet away ;) Your comment...

Re: seaworthiness

I just thought of a few more things. One is the mast creaks pretty badly when going to weather. I am planning to get the partners checked/replaced during the haul out because I'll be taking down the mast to rerun antenna and nav light cables. I'm hoping that will fix it. Though this might not be a s...

Re: seaworthiness

Good luck, Mike! I'm considering this race, too, in my F38. I don't know anything about the shoal keel and seaworthiness of the F30, but the Freedoms seem to be tough, capable boats though not exactly "blue water" -- whatever that means. The bottom contour, as mentioned in another post, is one reaso...

Re: F33 Center Board knocking

Carliane - we are based out of Brickyard Cove. Members if the RYC, where we keep our Wabbit. See you out there! Erik How nice! Kynntana is not in the "winners race" for the BYC MIdwinters so I'll be taking her to Richmond for some running rigging work that I can't figure out on my own. I'll probabl...

Re: F33 Center Board knocking

Suggest also giving a call to Hans at List Marine in Sausalito. He might know a possible buyer for the engine.

Re: F33 Center Board knocking

Do you like to race? I will be racing on a friend's J-95 in the Berkeley YC Midwinters race this Sunday. Our fourth crew just dropped out because he forgot about another commitment. You could probably get a ride on another BYC boat that morning and then transfer over. We could bring you back. The aw...

Re: F33 Center Board knocking

I remember! What a good looking boat. Hope you had a nice time in Clipper Cove. It's a great spot. If I recall correctly, you went right through an area that should have grounded a normal-keeled boat. That centerboard is good to have :-) Are you based in Berkeley or just passing through, too?
