Re: Jib top reached attachment?
We are just about to install a somewhat flat cut 1.5 oz cruising spinnaker on a flexible furler on our F38. Should close reach well and cloth is heavy enough to stand up to some breeze. I'll report back on how close we can reach in May after trying it out. There are 2 aspects to our install that I b...

Re: Carrying a dinghy
Thanks Mary. I did have the Davron Dinghy Tow on our 1987 Freedom 30. Although it is principally designed for an inflatable, we used it with a 9' Boston Whaler Squall. It worked very well in all kinds of conditions, including a 30 minute Lake Erie squall with winds of 75 miles per hour and short per...

Re: Carrying a dinghy
Hey, where is everyone? Hopefully not frozen in the tundra! I'm hoping for a few more responses on carrying a dinghy and outboard. Some pros and cons would be greatly appreciated. Wondering if anyone else has had experience or heard anything about Davron's DinghyTow? Thank you, Bob Only 8 weeks till...

Re: Feathering prop on an F36/38
Our F38 came with a 3 blade Max Prop. Because we never had a fixed prop, we don't have a basis of comparison for sailing - but would have to imagine it makes a difference. Boat performance is excellent under power going forward and in reverse... especially good in reverse when needing to put the bra...

Carrying a dinghy
With 14 months remaining till we retire, move on the boat and head south - we are beginning final preparations: sail upgrades, water maker, air conditioning, updating certain electronics, life raft, dinghy, outboard, etc. I'm having a hard time figuring out how to carry a dinghy. We don't plan to do...

Re: winter storage-mast in or out?
There is a lot of information about unstepping on this board - but the short answer is: tie a loop in the lifting line with long tail. The loop goes around the mast and tail is secured to the gooseneck. Be sure to place loop properly so mast will balance when it is turned horizontal. Regarding stora...

Re: Anyone installed winches on cockpit coaming?
I've heard that about the bay - and single-handing would definitely prove a challenge, whether tweaking or dumping the sheets. You could certainly put spinnaker winches at the aft end of coamings. It would never fly on my boat - as one of the admiral's favorite seats is at the end of the coaming - l...

Re: Anyone installed winches on cockpit coaming?
I just ordered an asymmetrical spi on flexible furler for my F38. I will be attaching cheek blocks to the toe rails amidships or a bit aft, to get the correct sheeting angle for the sail. I also plan to attach ratchet blocks to the toe rail (with snap shackles) a foot or so forward of the stern clea...
