Re: Lewmar clutch stoppers for 40/40
We replaced main halyard last year (ultra low stretch line that is even more slippery) and continue to have the problem. It's not a big deal but so far the only solution is leaving it on the winch which isn't really a solution if you want to use the winch for anything else(which we always do). I hav...

Re: Freedom 40/40 roller furling jib forestay tension
Tom, we have hull #11 a 1995 Freedom 40/40. We also have a camber spar jib so my advice for a fix may not be helpful. However, from everything that I have read getting the forestay too tight can cause major problems for the mast in violent winds and a seaway. The over tight forestay prevents the mas...

Re: folding mast steps F 40/40
Craig, thanks for the advice. I sometimes I feel like I rely too much on Paul Dennis. I am sure that he's a busy guy and always so accommodating. Thanks for your suggestion. Paul

folding mast steps F 40/40
Hello all, one of the 3 folding mast steps on our F 40/40 recently broke. the step has the label "Mast Walker Balto MD" cast into the step. The aluminum "ears on the step portion have broken off (likely due to corrosion) and I would like to replace the step with an exact replacement so that I do not...

Re: F 40/40 holding tanks
Thanks to all for the helpful replies. Geoff, I was afraid that the tank was in there. Looks like a good winter project and per your advice I plan to use the best hose available. I hope to make this a once in a lifetime job, at least for me. Smooth sailing to all. Paul

F 40/40 holding tanks
I am getting ready to replace all sanitation hose on our 1995 40/40 which is a two head version. I am having difficulty figuring out how to access the rear holding tank (62 gals). It appears that access would be through the storage space in the center of the boat accessible through the rear cabin. T...

Re: Looking for Massachusetts Sail maker
We used Haarstick's Rhode Island office for a new jib and main for our F 40/40 in 2011. Our mast had been shortened by 4+ by the previous owner so it wasn't just a standard measurement. They came to the yard in Barrington, took the measurements and delivered the sails on time so we could sail her ho...

Re: F35 (Pedrick) roach
Al, we purchased a new jib with campberspar pocket and new main for our 40/40 from Haarstick in 2011 and we are very happy with the sails. Quality and design are excellent. Our job was a little unique because the mast had been cut down by the previous owner. Loft came to Brewers Cove Haven in Barrin...
