Re: Rigger in RI
Is your boat still being repaired from the lightning strike? It must be challenging arranging repairs in Guatemala from here? It sounds like you're in the RI area. If you'd like to go out for a sail on our 40/40, we'd be happy to have you. It's on the Sakonnet River.

40/40 jib w/ camberspar-hanging or on the deck? Boombreak?
We are just starting our second season with our 40/40, so still getting to know the boat (and relatively new to sailing). A couple things we've been debating that I thought we could get some experts' opinions on: 1. Should you leave the jib with sail cover on hanging, or let it lie on the deck when ...

Menemsha Pond?
We sailed to Martha's Vineyard last weekend and were initially planning on anchoring inside Menemsha Pond (online literature suggested this was possible), but when we got there a call to the HarborMaster suggested that wasn't a good plan because of a shoal near the RN4. Has anyone anchored recently ...

Re: Freedom 40/40 roller furling jib forestay tension
Congratulations on your new boat! We have a 1997 40/40, but we have the jib with a camberspar, so I have no advice I can give you. You might want to post this into the Rigging section of the board. Good luck!

Re: Emergency Tiller for Freedom 40/40
Ours looks like that as well. For clarity, the diameter on that pet metal rod is probably about 3 inches -pretty big. Ours was also in the starboard Lasarette along with a two pronged device to remove the cover. I'd reach out to Paul Dennis about getting another one, if you still haven't found it.

Soft Shackles on 40/40
Earlier in the season a couple of our padeyes broke in a windy situation and my husband was able to replace them. We have been thinking of installing soft shackles instead of stainless steel to minimize the hard stop of the shackles on the padeyes during heavy weather or when tacking or jibing. Has ...

Vent in Water Tank of 40/40?
We had an "interesting" experience with our 40/40 this past weekend. We are normally on a mooring ball and had the opportunity to fill up and wash down the boat at the dock. Unfortunately the water pressure on one of the hoses was pretty low, so we just stuck it in to fill up the water tank. Waiting...

Re: Freedom 40/40 Main Sheet Blocks on Boom
Thanks for your input. My husband ended up meeting with Paul Dennis and learning a lot from him. He got the parts from him and replaced them himself. And now we have a couple spares, just in case.
Thanks again!

Freedom 40/40 Main Sheet Blocks on Boom
We were ready for a lovely, windy day on Narragansett Bay yesterday. Shortly after we got our sails up, we noticed our main sheet on the traveler was somewhat tangled/twisted. Shortly thereafter on a tack, one of our main sheet blocks that's attached to the bottom of the boom got pulled off. I was w...

Re: Boating through Cape Cod Canal-Advice?
Thanks for all your advice. We made it through the canal today. Other people we talked to had said, wait around in the Sandwich Marina and when the other sailboats are going out, follow them. Well, it was a cloudy day, so there were no other sailboats. We ended up going about 1 hour before the direc...
