Re: No Zinc wear, good or bad?

Ed
Did you inadvertently use a different anode material from last time. They come in zinc, aluminum and magnesium and all have different rates of wear.

Re: How do I Install a Jib on the Camber Spar?

My clew fits on relatively easy. In fact I have to use small stuff to secure it to the clew horns. Original sails from a loft in Michigan I believe when I bought boat in 2001. I am having Thurston Sails in Bristol RI make me a new jib for next season and his one condition was I give him the camber s...

Re: Carbon dust at mast step

Is it really carbon dust or is it from the black foam padding around the electrical cables that is wearing off as the halyard goes up and down. That is what I contributed the dust to.

Re: F30 Shower drain

Mark Sounds like your shower drain is plugged with hair. Not quite sure how the 30 is but in my freedom 36 I come off the shower drain with a 1 1/2 inch drain/ hose which dumps directly to sump which then drains to a 5/8 input to a pump/strainer. Never had a problem. Think your problem is more relat...

Re: First race with Dolcetto

I believe the real problem with the camberspar hitting the mast is too much headstay tension. Try easing it off. I had the same problem when started with my F36 and that cured the problem. Somewhere on this site is an article on proper set up of camberspar. The other thing I did was to tie the tack ...

Re: Holding Tank Vent Filter

I installed a Big Orange vent filter years ago. Works fine and eliminates smell from vent. I replace the carbon every season. It does have a bypass vent incase the carbon filter gets plugged.

Re: Shaft seal research info.

Michael;
Looks good but tight. What is that block of metal between the transmission flange and the shaft flange? Looks like a flexible coupling of sorts I've never seen before.
Don't forget to tighten all the bolts before you power off. They look a little loose. :)

Re: Prop Shaft installation

Years ago I replaced the shaft etc. on my 1986 F36 and was able to do it without removing the rudder. I recall it was a tight but doable.

Re: Jib sail options for the Freedom 32 (Hoyt)

Steve Thurston at Thurston Quantum Sails in Bristol RI has been making sails for Freedoms for years. I ordered a new mainsail for my F36 for the 2016 season. Next year a new jib. Steve told me he needs the camber spar to correctly make the sail because he has found the curvature varies from spar to ...
