Re: Topic 1000

In 2001/2002 when I purchased my 36 I revamped the electrical systems and installed 4 six volt Surret golf cart batteries under the galley sink. A few years ago it was time to replace those. About 11 years of service. Replaced them with 4 six volt golf cart batteries from SAMs club. Best value for t...

Re: 6 Volt conversion in F38 or F36?

Ed I installed 4 six volt golf cart batteries under the galley sink. Under the nav station where batteries use to be I installed inverter/charger and other electronics. Engine battery is Groip 30 installed in sail locker behind engine compartment. I can provide pictures and if you are in the Portsmo...

Re: Headliner replacement

Craig I did my main salon last spring and just installed newly covered panels for the aft and forward cabin. It is a big job and absolutely do not try and do it on boat. I thought about it and glad I didn't. I consulted with 3m and used their Fast Tack Waterbased adhesive 1000NF. Used roller to appl...

Re: How does the refrigerator water pump work? F28

I had a similar hand pump on my previous boat. The pump check valve would get debris from the ice box in it and prevent it from doing its job. Hence the pump wouldn't pump fluid from the ice box. Suggest you take pump apart and clean it. Otherwise it could be blockage in the ice box drain line again...

Re: Battery Monitor Set-up Question

You need to refer to instructions for battery monitor you have but i would suspect you should set up monitor for each battery separately. 315 or closest value for house and 105 or closest value for engine bank. That is how my link system is set up.

Re: Freedom 32 main halyard

Well you got yourself in quite a predicament Ollie. But for every problem there is a solution. Be it simple or not so simple. I'll admit this has not happen to me but my approach would be (short of pulling mast) is to pull out halyard completely. Using a light light with weight attached small enough...

Re: Autopilot ST4000 problem

Dale: Irronically the first time my autopilot went beserk was when I was sailing from Conneticut River to Shelter Island. Put the autopilot on to go below and the next thing I knew boat was turning to port. It continued that direction whenever I turned it on until I found the problem. Evidently wate...

Re: Autopilot ST4000 problem

I had a similar problem on my autohelm 4000. I took the control unit apart and found water in the unit. Blew it out, let it dry and re-assembled. It has worked flawless since then.

Re: Reefing Line Configuration

I have the single line reefing system on my 1986 F36. Personaly I like the KIS (keep it simple ) arrangement. I would recommend going with the single line method as it allows more flexibilty and increased reliabilty. The winch provides the mechanical advantage so really you don't need the blocks. Ri...
