Old Freedom 21 Sails (St Petersburg, FL or shipped anywhere)

Post by iansan5653 »

I have a bunch of old sails that came with my Freedom 21. They are priced to reflect the very used condition they are in - these are definitely not race sails but they might be good enough for practice or cruising or as backups.

I'm located in St Petersburg and regularly drive down to Fort Myers, so I can drop them off anywhere in between. Otherwise we can work out shipping.

Prices are negotiable and I'm open to trades for F21 gear - particularly a tiller or a spinnaker.
  1. $80 - Standard full-batten class mainsail, dacron, serviceable condition. Unknown sailmaker. No battens included. Features: aluminum head plate, bolt rope foot, window, tie-in batten sleeves, plastic luff cars, Freedom emblem, sail no 89.

I've personally never used this sail but it looks fine - I think the previous owner had it serviced and then never used it as there are fresh dacron patches on any potential problem spots.

  2. $150 - Large full-batten mainsail (oversized roach), dacron, serviceable condition. Made by Knighton sails. Includes battens!. Features: aluminum head plate, bolt rope foot, velcro batten sleeves, plastic luff cars with stainless shackles or webbing, Freedom emblem, sail no 89, telltales.

This was my primary sail until a few weeks ago. It's pretty blown out, but definitely still usable if you're looking for a cheap cruising sail - the only reason I decided to replace it was because I wanted to get more competitive at racing. It has some small pinholes that don't appear to be at any risk of expanding; other than that there are no significant problems.

  3. $20 - Light-air jib/genoa, lightweight ripstop nylon, poor condition. Made by Omar sails. Features: steel luff wire, red/white/blue colors. 98" foot x 229" luff x 220" leech.

This is a very pretty-looking light-air jib, but it's not in usable condition as it has a significant tear near the foot. That said, ripstop nylon is easy to work with on a home sewing machine so it might be repairable for very cheap.
