Tonight was my first race with the new boat (F38). I have to say I was impressed by its pointing ability and easy handling (we were doublehanded). I sailed very conservatively and started at the back of the pack on purpose (only third time sailing her and first time with the camberspar). I was easily able to catch up and get toward the front of the pack. I especially enjoyed passing boat going downwind (non-spinnaker).
Although the race went well there were a couple of problems or concerns.
1. The camberspar kept hitting the mast! What am I doing wrong?
2. I can't tighten the luff of the mainsail. It seams as though something is getting stuck. There is a new main halyard sheave and a new main halyard. The halyard is 1/2 inch sta-set. Is it possible that the splice is getting jammed in the sheave?
