Taken inside Marquesa last night, our first entertaining aboard. :) This one was from an iphone of a friend. Kerri has the good stuff on her camera and will upload soon. It's amazing how many people we can entertain with that cockpit and we kept cycling people in and out of the cozy warm cabin where the hot cider was... and yes, spiced rum for those inclined. :) For that matter I think there must have been about 10 people below at one time! heh heh Lots of cookies and xmas candy as well. Great holiday music on the XM. The stereo sounds great through the old school bose speakers. We had some of our gultchers and some just good friends. Everyone from tree removal crew that came with Erish to program managers. For me, it was very gratifying to have people ooh and ah over the work. But the best part of the evening was the endless smile on Kerri's face. After cleaning up Kerri and I left the boat just as the snow started. We walked back down for the night later.

More pictures (and much better quality) as I get them.

And with it *almost* the solstice I'll part with my favorite poem of all time.

Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening

Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

Pretty nice headroom on this boat.

Starboard side of main cabin.

U-shaped setee with round table, leaf up. Plenty of room for these three children and some adults too.

Galley. Two deep sinks as close to amid-ships as practical is a good setup. The stove is the princess we bought for $200 when Boat-US went TU. That cutting board is a hatch cover I salvaged from a friend's Vega when he decided to go with Star-board. Under that is the refrigerator and freezer boxes, lots of capacity there.

Another view of the dinette, leaf down this time. The P/O (bless his pointy head) had cut a section of that spindle rail out, probably to put in a TV.... grrrrr >:( I had to take it completely apart, bung the old holes, router out a new top rail section to match what was there, and then drill and redistribute the spindles at a wider spacing to fill the hole where the 5 were missing. It isn't perfect, but it doesn't attract the eye for the wrong reasons... As a wrench turner, I'll take it!

And starboard settee which converts to a double. I built those sliding door cabinets above to take advantage of some useless open space.

After the party I finally realized I had not taken the plastic protectors off of all of the new Beckson portlights. It was a very gratifying task. :)

This morning the waterways (walkways on either side of our main cabin house) were drifted to the gunnels. That's about 18-24 inches! It's still coming down. I knew we would probably have snow on the boat but I didn't think I'd be having to go down there with a shovel to dig her out.... :(

Now! I hope our friends in the UK will appreciate how much less colonial our cabin looks! heh heh ;)

I have a sore tooth and an appointment with dentist on Monday. That's going to lead to at least one trip to the oral surgeon during holiday sched... So after xmas anyway and I'm hoping to be moved onto the boat the rest of the way and just waiting for a weather window. Cold we can deal with. Cold and wet... we are not in that much of a hurry.

Nice work George, I like the round settee and table. Incredible that you wanted to go through so much work to repair the spindle rail. A man with eye for details! I must say I'm not sad I don't have spindle rails; varnishing would quickly become a total drama.

That's really sweet, George

Lots of work represented in those photos (the boat, not the people ;) )
