This rather nice centre-cockpit F40 was in Lerwick on Friday, en route from France to Norway. The permanent 'bimini' and spray screen will certainly improve cold, wet weather sailing, though we have had a run of sunshine this week.
The owner pointed out the single ply sails set with parrel beads; not the same as the G10 rig, however. The gooseneck of the boom is carried on a sleeve which allows the boom to move around the mast; it is held up by the uphaul which used to suspend the 'halter' when wishbones are fitted.
I would have liked to ask more about the boat, and how she sailed, but the owner was busy tuning her piano, prior to a recital on the boat, and I had wedding to attend. The next day there was a good Westerly force 4, and she was gone!
