Re: Helping to pay for FreedomYachts.org

Post by GeoffSchultz »

I'm going to steal my post from 5 years ago and update it:

------------------------------

It's hard to believe that it's been 11 years since I started the FreedomYachts.org forum. Since then we've had 1157 members sign up who have posted 29199 messages in 6626 topics! If you can't find what you're looking for in here, you aren't looking very hard!

I personally host the forum on my account at pair.com, and I have no problem doing that. However, every 5 years I need to renew the FreedomYachts.org domain name. It's only $65 for 5 years, so I figure if I can get a few people to kick in $5 or $10, we'll cover it quickly. So, I created a web page which links to my PayPal account which allows people to donate to the cause. You can find it at:

https://www.freedomyachts.org/paypal_donate.html

I'll shut it down as soon as we reach the goal. Thanks in advance for your support.

Hey Geoff,

I got the request for donation in my daily e-mail digest and made a donation from there. I then went to the board and found out you had filled the bucket already. Apply my bucks to the next round or use them to support the site in some other way.

The board is an invaluable resource, keep up the great work.

Mike,

I think you were reading the thread from 5 years ago. We're at $51.60, so your donation is more than welcome. Thanks everyone for your donations so far.

Hi Geoff,

The forum has been an invaluable source of information since I purchased my Hoyt F32 a few years ago. Thank you for your continued efforts in providing this site!

Donation made, thanks so much for your efforts to keep the group going. I’ve received much useful information as we start to get Freestyle upgraded.

Thanks so very much to everyone who contributed! We raised $69.42 (credit card fees get deducted), so I shut down the donation web page. We're now renewed for another 5 years.

I promise that I won't go too wild and crazy with the extra $4.42...
