F30 Freshwater Pump Replacement

Post by MarcHudgins »

The house water pump on my F30 is original, fussy and noisy. Has anyone replaced theirs? Does anyone know what the original model is? Looking for potential replacement. I've been quoted a pretty pricy replacement and am looking to see what others may have used.

MarcH… replacing a fresh water pump supplying water to boat faucets, showers, etc, should not be expensive normally and should be a diy project. Look for a 12v pump with 4+ gpm flow - see Amazon. Sometimes the problem is accumulated sand and hard water deposits in the water tank restricting flow to the pump - check the pump’s filter and clean/clear. Check your water tank if you can ( I can’t easily do that on mine). A new pump may not exactly fit the footprint of the original, in which case anew base may need to be made…. Connections should be strait forward with water intake and out to system.

Thank you. This is along the lines of what I was thinking of of doing. I only had someone else quote the job because the prior owner was having some plumbing done pre-sale and wanted to see if the jobs could be ganged together. I was shocked at the cost of the part they implied I needed when I've seen them for much less. They seem to have located some kind of premium pump.

The updated reply from the installer who proposed the job was that the cheaper unit had a longer dimension and would require rearranging the rest of the space (under the nav table and shared with the batteries) so they quoted a pump with the same footprint which was substantially more expensive. I don't have model numbers to reference, but regardless, I'll get down to the boat this weekend and assess what the possibilities are.

I moved my pump to under the galley sink - behind the drawer. It's worked fine there for years and there's more room to play with. Bonus: I could add a third battery under the nav desk.

That is an excellent suggestion. Do you have a model you used? Or pics of the install?

This Shurflo model is what replaced the original Par in my Mull F28. From the repair records, the cost was $110 plus labor.

Hi Mark,

Sorry for the delay. Here are some pics of my water pump under the counter beside the galley sink. The tee in the hose is to a manual pump.

Best,
