F35 Pedrick. Has Anyone Added an Auto. Backup Bilge Pump?

Post by Mark K. »

Has anyone added an electric automatic high capacity back-up bilge pump to their boat? If so how did you run the plumbing?
I added one to my old trawler and it gave me a good peace of mind that if the factory pump failed that the equivalent of the cavalry would come charging in and keep my boat afloat!

Thank you,

Hello Mark,

Ketch 22 has two electric and two manual bilge pumps. One of the electric pumps uses a" float switch", the second is a water witch style. Each pump has its own thru hull, one at the stern and one on the starboard side. The wiring is separate as well. Each pump has its own breaker.

Hello Mark

My F35 P has one 12v float switch (one day I’ll switch that out to a water witch switch), and a manual whale gusher. Separate hoses and thru hulls. Both exit aft. Whale Gusher of course uses a cockpit mounted pump with detachable handle.

Helpful?
